St Regis New York

25 Apr 2018

Our incoming AUH-JFK flight was delayed but the Preclearance at Abu Dhabi saved us a lot of time on arrival.

The wife gave her glaring disapproval upon seeing our transfer:

We arrived at the St Regis New York around noon:

Designated Landmark:

Room was not ready so we went for a quick dim-sum lunch before the SPG app notified that our room on the 18th floor was ready:

Our Superior Room:

I personally loved the bed although the wife predictably disagreed, claiming the pillows were just too fluffy for her:

Huge bathroom by New York standards:

Generous amenities upon request:

Since it was a five-night stay I had low expectations of a suite upgrade. My SNAs for our three nights in Boston have all cleared so I knew we would have more space towards the end of our trip (when the shopping has progressed considerably too).

Tea service by our butler (the service is free up till 12PM):

We had our breakfast every morning at Astor Court's table by the window:

Platinum benefits entitles you to an American breakfast or equivalent value :

St Regis French Toast and Spa Breakfast with cranberry juice:

Have a look at the hotel's daily rates and it won't be surprising anymore to see the Winklevoss twins sitting across you during dinner at Astor Court:

Because of the daily USD50 Destination Fee we ordered room service on more than one occasion. Room service Garden Salad and St Regis Onion Soup (excellent):

The gym is located on Level 19:

Great new TechnoGym equipment:

There is a beautiful restroom located below Astor Court, accessible down a flight of stairs. Very convenient after meals and before heading out for the day:

The Cognac Room at the lobby level was nice:

We did not end up trying the Red Snapper founded at the famous bar:

The location was convenient for Central Park and some shopping but we used Uber most of the time anyway. Overall 4 stars from me and 3.5 stars from the wife.
