Magic Kingdom

22 Jan 2017

We were transported from the Waldorf Astoria Orlando to Magic Kingdom at 8AM, an early but necessary start to the day as advised by our private guide Roberta.

We hired a private guide to tackle most of the theme parks. I did my homework and planned our trip for what was statistically the low season for the parks but decided to splurge on a guide as insurance. This is most likely a once-in-a-lifetime experience so I did not want to leave anything to chance.

By 8:30AM we were dropped off near Disney's Contemporary Hotel & Resort and made our way to the entrance to Magic Kingdom.

Arriving early to beat the crowds:

The benefit of having a personal guide is that we could split up and ensure everyone gets to do what they want to do. My wife and I brought Diane to watch the pre-opening show at Cinderella Castle:

while Roberta brought the boys straight to Tomorrowland to try out the rides:

We met up with the boys and did some rides together:

before bringing Diane to meet some of her favourite characters:

I booked the Fairytale Dining Lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table:

This was purely for Diane as she met all of Disney's princesses:

The boys were more interested in lunch which comprised of assorted cured meats and cheeses as our appetiser:

Grilled beef tenderloin, mixed green, Riesling-braised beets, pickled pearl onions and crumbled goat cheese:

Grilled beef tenderloin with crushed fingerling potato confit, shrimp and seasonable vegetables:

Pan-seared all-natural chicken served over creamy goat cheese polenta and baby rainbow carrots with a Madeira mushroom reduction:

Roasted pork tenderloin and crispy pork belly served with cannellini bean ragout and root spinach:

We finished our meal with some pineapple-carrot cake, dark chocolate mousse and lemon sorbet.

Took a few more rides before returning to our hotel, intending to return for the fireworks show in the evening but decided against it as the weather report was rather gloomy. There was a thunderstorm in the end so we ended up ordering room service and going to bed early.
