Washington DC

20 May 2014

We flew from Niagara Falls to Ronald Reagan Washington Airport. The IAG-DCA flight took off around 10AM and by noon-time we were having lunch at Union Station. After lunch it was straight to our Capitol Building Tour:

There was some miscommunication between the driver and our guide so we were stuck outside for a while waiting for our transportation. Before long we were onto other sights:

Had a great time at dinner with the other folks in our tour all of whom were from Australia before returning to the Grand Hyatt Washington for our two night stay.

The next morning we headed to Mount Vernon and a tour of George Washington's estate. There was the showing of a heavily romanticised film on GW (you could hear the Brits and Aussies scoff all around):

After lunch we visited the Marine Corps and Vietnam War Memorials:

followed by the Smithsonian Museums:

National Air & Space Museum:

On our final day in Washington D.C. we visited the Arlington Cemetery before our flight to Harrisburg to visit the Amish community.

NEXT: Amish Country
