We left St Regis Doha at 4PM for a private tour of the Souq Waqif. It started to rain for some reason. The locals were all out and about taking videos of the rain. The guide joked that we brought the tropical rain from Malaysia to Qatar and thanked us for it.
The souq was quite sterile, lacking the character and authenticity of old, traditional souqs (we visited one such souq in Muscat, Oman but apparently that one has also been tarted up). We got back around 9PM. Met up with another couple at the Vintage Bar after freshening up. Wonderful environment and great live performance by Lauren Day (image from St Regis Doha website):
The next morning we had a very nice breakfast at the hotel, seated in the outdoor area. Kids are the same the world over:
After a healthy breakfast of mainly freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice we headed off 10AM on our private Doha City Tour. We started with Katara Cultural Village, the Pearl and Bellagio shopping mall. Katara and the Pearl are not quite ready while the mall was ordinary. Would skip entirely if I were you:
Our final stop: MIA
MIA is stunning:
Terracotta Warriors exhibit on Level 1:
As always, you run out of time at your favourite stop. We left MIA reluctantly and made our way back to the hotel in preparation for our DOH-BKK flight.
A few last pics on the way back to the hotel:
