Why redeem Suites class for a relatively short flight? Given the launch of the new Suites class in 2017, this might be the last time to experience the famed double-bed in the sky in its original guise. That, and the fact that two Suites Saver awards were available for our dates.
After a nice meal and shower at the Private Room, we made our way to our gate where a significant amount of people had already gathered:
Caught a glimpse of our big bird:
Boarding was announced shortly. Had to squeeze our way through gate lice before arriving in the haven which is SQ Suites class:
The show begins: Dom for the wife, Krug for me:
Obligatory legroom shot. It takes Suites/First Class for SQ to get legroom right:
Had a browse of the menu for our flight shortly after takeoff:
Due to the heavy dim sum brunch and subsequent meal at the Private Room, we asked for our beds to be made so we can nap straightaway. I've had 3 glasses of Krug by then and looked forward to some shut-eye.
The double-bed on SQ's A380 is a fantastic experience, even on this relatively short 5 hr flight.
Woke up with about 50 mins of the flight left. Asked for some ice-cream/cake/coffee. Chatted with the FAs about the new Suites class, the lack of a shower as compared to Emirates and Etihad First (the FA was hilariously defensive, harping on the weight issues for installing a shower, high fuel consumption la, how you should shower at the lounge first anyway la, just a gimmick la etc).
Before long, we arrived in BOM, ahead of schedule of course.
Snagging a pair of Row 3 SQ Suites is one of the best redemptions one can make.
